Season’s Greetings and Happy New Year from PPA!

Hello all,

The students prepared to welcome winter this past week although they all noted that the final days of fall did not really seem much like fall at all!  With temperatures much colder than usual and snowflakes filling the skies, the end of fall seemed like the middle of winter!  The students arrived at school on Monday bundled up in their winter warmest and were ready to get started!

Throughout each morning of “Winter Week”, the students crafted beautiful winter-themed art projects to display in their homes!  For their morning work on Monday, the students crafted an adorable animal who loves cold weather – a winter snow owl!

The students spent the afternoons throughout this past week discussing the many splendors of Winter as well as rehearsing musical and Winter-riffic performances for Friday’s Winter Holiday Celebration!  Take a look below to see some of the lists they created inspired by the upcoming season!

For morning work on Tuesday, the students took inspiration from the most famous snowman of all – Frosty – as they transformed into snow-people themselves!  Take a look below to see how the magic happened!  The project proved to be a great addition to the classroom bulletin board.

On Wednesday, the students created another winter craft.  This time the students assembled colorful and friendly penguins which would also “hang out” together on the classroom bulletin board!

Thursday was the final winter craft day of the week at PPA.  The students used their hands, some paint, and a colorful pompom to transform into a majestic winter animal – a Reindeer!  What fun it was!

After a full week of hard work, the students were thrilled to learn that Friday had finally arrived!  Ready to celebrate, the students spent the morning rehearsing their musical performance of not one, not two but THREE winter songs!  They also took turns coming up and sharing what they will be doing over the holiday break when school is closed.  Many of the students will be traveling to different parts of the country (some even the world!) to celebrate the holidays and ring in the New Year!  How exciting!

Soon Friday afternoon had arrived and the Park Prep Annual Winter Celebration had begun!  The students were joined by their families to help wrap up the end of the calendar year and get ready for the holidays!  Look below to see some of the highlights from the party!
