Wow! Fitness and Exercise Week was such a blast! Whether indoors or outdoors, the children worked hard all week long! Read on below to learn all about the fun that was had and learning that took place!
The students arrived at school on Monday morning with one thing in mind – the WATER/SPRINKLER PARK! The students could hardly wait to get over to the water play area! What fun it was! Also on Monday, the students kicked off the week by creating a very exciting, fun, and BEAD-I-FUL craft – a bright summer time bracelet! Using assorted colored beads, the students strung together their bracelets and wore them proudly throughout the day!
On Tuesday, the rain meant that the students would have an indoor recess time. Thankfully it was another Art Day at PPA and the students decorated some gorgeous hats using assorted color paints and super sparkly glitter! Naturally, the students could hardly wait for the hats to dry so they could wear them!
Speaking of hats, Wednesday was WaCkY HaT DaY at PPA and the students certainly did not disappoint! Take a look to see some of the WaCkY and ZaNy hats that were sent in!
On Thursday, the students headed down the block for the first field trip of August camp! The students spent the morning at Family Fitness Mixed Martial Arts working with Master Vinh and Master Mike! The students learned the importance of being great listeners and also self-control! They learned various martial arts movements such as front kicks and of course had a lot of fun in the process! They particularly loved the tunnel racing! Be sure to take a look at some of the highlights from Thursday’s field trip! A special Thank You to Master Vinh and Master Mike for such a wonderful trip!

On Friday, the students headed back out into the neighborhood to visit some of Jersey City’s Bravest – the local Fire Fighters! Upon arrival at the fire house, the students were greeted warmly by Fire Fighter Ossie, Captain Miguel and the other members of the A-Group of JCFD! The A-Group really pulled out all the stops during the field trip. They showed the students the ladder trucks, the pumper (water) trucks, the fire hose, the fire fighting robot, all of the their firefighting gear and more! Of course, they explained the importance of fire safety and prevention throughout the morning! As if visiting the fire house wasn’t exciting enough, the students were overjoyed to learn that the firefighters even had gifts to present to the students – a fire hat and a bag full of fire safety goodies! The students were so appreciative of the firefighters hard work and generosity! With a big “Park Prep Thank You”, the students said goodbye to the firefighters and then headed back to school. Wow! Talk about an AMAZING week of camp! We cannot wait to see what next week – Bubble Week – has in store!
