Hello all,
“Sunshine Week” has come and gone and boy, was it great! Read on below to learn all about the fun that was had and learning that took place!
On Monday and Tuesday morning, the students headed out to the Water Park and Playground for some fun in the sun! Upon returning to the school, it was clear that the students had a lot of enthusiasm and one thing on their mind –Friday’s Turtle Back Zoo field trip! Throughout the entire week, the students prepared for their zoo visit by learning and investigating about many of the animals that live at the zoo. The students discussed some of questions they wanted to investigate and also ask the zookeepers. The questions were great! For instance, one student wondered: “How do zookeepers know what kinds of foods each animal likes to eat?” while another student wondered, “What is the most fun part of working at the zoo?” The teachers recorded all of the questions in a big list to bring along for the trip on Friday!
Speaking of lists, the students created another list on Wednesday to help determine who might be the Mystery Guest that afternoon! As was to be expected, Superman, who had visited PPA in July was added to list! The students were all blown away when they learned just who the Mystery Guest actually was – QUEEN ELSA from the Disney smash, Frozen! The students were dazzled by Elsa’s beautiful dancing performance; they even joined in! At the end of the day, the students each had an opportunity to get a balloon sculpture AND a face painting of their choosing! Thankfully, none of the balloons (or students) turned into ice! 🙂 What a magical day it was! Be sure to take a look below to see the students and Queen Elsa in action!
Thursday was WaCkY oUtFiT dAy and the students did not disappoint! After parading around the classroom in their WaCkY attire, the students had an opportunity to speak about their outfits! One by one, the students came to the front of the class to discuss the WaCkInEsS of their wardrobe! Here are some of the highlights from WaCkY oUtFiT dAy!
Thursday was also an Art Day! For their morning work, the students created the most gorgeous sunflowers that the teachers have ever seen! Complete with gems, sea glass, and tissue paper crumbles, these flowers are sure to be in bloom forever!
On Friday, it was finally the day the students would head to the Turtle Back Zoo! The students, teachers, and some PPA parents hopped aboard the air-conditioned school bus, buckled up, and headed off! When the bus arrived at the zoo, the PPA crew unloaded and began their exploration of the zoo and all the new exhibits! The animals must have heard that the PPA Kids were coming because whenever the students went up to the glass it seemed that the animals came right over to say hello! What a great day at the zoo it was! Thank you to all of the PPA parents who accompanied the students on the field trip! We hope you had as much fun as we did! Here are some of the photographic highlights from Friday’s field trip to Turtle Back Zoo!
