“Letter C is for Colors Week” Blog Recap!

Hello all,

“Letter C is for Colors Week” was by far the Coolest week of the 2019-2020 school year yet!  Each day of the week, the students and teachers showed their “Letter C is for Colors Week” support by wearing Certain Colored Clothing!  Take a look below at some photos from Tuesday’s “Dress in RED Day”.  The students sure were “REDDY” for school! 🙂

The colorful students also entered school each day with a Crazy amount of Letter C shares! Everything from Cookies, Cider, Coloring books, and Cows were sent in and shared!  There were tons of Letter C/Color books that came in as well!  The students spent both Tuesday and Wednesday morning working one on one with the teachers to complete their Letter C identification/fine motor activity sheets.  The teachers were so impressed with how easily the new students recognized the letter C and also how well the older students remembered all things “C” during their morning work!  In the afternoon on Tuesday and Wednesday, the students created the third letter list of the year!  Naturally, the letter C list was full of Creative answers!  As a whole group, the students took turns brainstorming and contributing words that begin with the letter C and also hunted around the classroom for letter C items!

How many C shares do you see?

Answer:  Corduroy Book,  Cat In The Hat Book, Cow, Chicken, Cupcake, Crab, and C!

On Thursday morning, the students began their day with a reading of Ellen Stoll Walsh’s classic story, Mouse Paint.  In the story, three mischievous mice climb into jars of colored paint – a yellow jar, a red jar, and a blue jar.  After a while, the mice come out of the jars and begin playing and dancing around which leads to a big, drippy but colorful  mess! They quickly begin to notice that the colors seem to change before their very eyes!  The colors were blending together! Through their messy investigation, the mice (and the students) learned how the following colors mix together.

RED + YELLOW = ORANGE

RED + BLUE = PURPLE

BLUE + YELLOW = GREEN

The students headed to the art easel to continue the color blending! Each student selected a few colors to paint with and mix! Here is how the project turned out!

On Friday, the students created a colorful caterpillar art project using assorted colors and their fingertips!  How Cute!

In the afternoon on both Thursday (and Friday), the students participated in Spanish class where they practiced their Los Numeros (Numbers) vocabulary.  They also LOVED dancing along to the following song during Music Class and playing this Musical Color Game during the Technology Presentation!

The students also welcome a Grandma Guest reader on “Dress in Green Day”.  With all those G words, we almost thought it was “Letter G Week!”  A special PPA Thank You to the Grandma who traveled from England to read to our class!

Well, that is all for “Letter C is for Colors Week”; it sure was a Cool one!  We will see you next week for some more alphabet fun – it’s going to “D-lightful! 🙂 As always, thank you for reading and have a fun and safe weekend!
