Hello all,
Halloween/Fall Fun Week at PPA was Spooktacular and certainly colorful! Read on below to learn how the ghouls and boys of PPA spent the week preparing for the season and of course, Halloween. All week long, the students worked on fun Fall and spooky Halloween-themed crafts to help get in the mood for the fall favorite holiday!
On Monday, the students entered school ready to discuss all things Halloween! The shares ranged from spooky to scary to silly and sparkly! One sparkly spider share actually lived up to its name by sharing its sparkles with everyone who touched it- particularly the teachers, who were finding sparkles on them even two days later!
For their morning work on Monday, the students painted and decorated their very own SpOoKy Spider necklaces.
On Monday afternoon, the students had music class where they sang and danced along to some fun Halloween-themed music! They particularly loved the Halloween-themed version of “If You’re Happy and You Know It”. Try it now!
If you’re a black cat and you know it, say meow!
If you’re a black cat and you know it, say meow!
If you’re a black cat and you know it, and you really want to show it,
If you’re a black cat and you know it, say meow!
Now try – a witch, fly a broom!
a ghost, shout out BOO!
a skeleton, shake your bones!
On Tuesday, the students created Jack-O-Lanterns using sponge paint and assorted shapes!
After music class on Tuesday afternoon, the students created a list of what they wanted to be for Halloween! Take a look below to see the very eccelctic list!
On Wednesday, the students welcomed the first PPA parent visitor of the year as a Guest Reader! With Halloween at the end of the week, the Mommy photographed below volunteered her time to read a particularly silly and spooky story to the class – Room On The Broom by Julia Donaldson! Judging by their excited reactions and big smiles, it was clear that the students are excited for Halloween! A special PPA Thank You to this Mommy and her daughters for helping to make Wednesday morning so special!
For their morning work on Wednesday, the students created a colorful Fall Tree using their own hands and arms as the tree trunk and branches! Which other body part do you think they used to create the colorful leaves? If you said, “Fingers” then you are correct!
In the afternoon on Wednesday, the students were visited by another PPA Mommy! The Mommy featured below owns and operates a cooking school in Hoboken called Give Peas A Chance where kids and parents work together to create yummy and healthy foods and snacks! The PPA Mommy offered to come in and work with the students to prepare a delicious and super healthy Halloween-inspired treat! In small groups, the students took turns working with the Mommy and her son to add all of the healthy ingredients – spinach, peaches, yogurt, orange juice, and half a banana! A quick swirl in the blender and Voilà – a Monster Mash Green Smoothie was born! 🙂 A special PPA Thank you to Nicole from Give Peas A Chance for spending the afternoon with us! 🙂 For more information about class offerings, click here: www.babiesforpeas.com.
On Thursday, the students created an assembled another fall favorite – a scarecrow!
During the afternoon on Thursday, the students participated in a technology presentation all about the Fall and Halloween, of course!
Finally, the day had come – Friday was Halloween at PPA! The students arrived at school in their Halloween costumes and boy, did they look great! The Halloween excitement continued on Friday morning as the students welcomed back an old friend who was visiting from the wild world of Kindergarten! The PPA alum photographed below spent the morning with the students answering all of their questions about what kindergarten is like and also reading a special Halloween book to the class! It is always so nice seeing old friends! What a wonderful visit it was!
Friday afternoon was the PPA Halloween Party! Nearly all of the students (and their families) were in attendance and in costume too! After reading a silly story and singing a super silly Halloween song, the students marched around the classroom in their costumes! Once the parade had made its way through, the students had a chance to play and dance together as well as enjoy some special Halloween treats! What an amazing day it was! A special PPA thank you to all of the families who attended the Halloween Party. Well, that is all for this week’s blog entry! Thank you to all of the students and family members who attended the PPA Halloween Celebration! We hope you had an amazing time! As always, thank you for reading and have a fun and safe Halloween weekend! See you next week!
