Hello all,
“Fall/Autumn Week” was full of chilly Fall weather and loads of Fall excitement! Read on below to learn about all the fun that was had and learning that took place.
The teachers began the week by asking the students what happens in the Fall. Hands flew into the air as responses such as “the leaves fall down” and “the leaves change color” were shared. But Fall is not just about leaves! Other answers such as, “we do not go swimming at the pool anymore” or “we wear sweaters and coats” were mentioned. One student brought in a football to share because as she said, “Fall means Football!” Regardless of what the students associated Fall with, one thing was for sure – Fall is Fun! Throughout Fall/Autumn Week, the students created beautiful Fall-inspired art to honor this beautiful and dynamic season!
On Monday, the students created a tissue paper sun catcher in the shape of an Autumn leaf!
On Tuesday, the students created another “frequently found in Fall” item – Acorns! While these were painted acorns, the students used a super silly Fall item to help “paint” their acorns. Can you figure out the wacky way the students added the paint to their acorns? Here is a hint – it was not with a paintbrush!
On Wednesday, the students created a Fall wreath to help decorate their homes this season!
During the afternoons on both Monday and Tuesday, the students continued to discuss the new season – Fall! On Monday, the students were asked to identify what happens in the Fall and on Tuesday the students brainstormed a list of Fall Favorites! Naturally, Halloween made the list! Take a look below to see their list from Monday!
During the afternoon on both Wednesday and Thursday, the students had music class where they danced, sang along and even learned some special fall songs. Here are the lyrics of one of their new favorites:
Red and yellow, green and brown,
All the leaves are tumbling down.
Days are nippy, Nights are clear,
Summer’s over, Fall is here!
On Thursday morning, the students worked collaboratively to make a classroom staple – home school-made play-dough from scratch! The students portioned out, poured in, and mixed together all of the ingredients! Speaking of ingredients, the students added a pinch of a very special seasoning, Pumpkin Pie Spice, to give their play-dough an extra Fall feeling. After the three batches of play-dough had been cooked and had a chance to cool off, the teachers separated out a generous handful of play-dough for each child to take home (along with the recipe) in a baggie!
On Friday, the students created another edible Fall treat! This time it was Jell-O Jigglers in the color and shape of Fall things! Whether they used leaves, acorns, or pumpkin cookie cutters to create their jiggly snack, one thing was for sure – it was YUMMY FALL FUN!
Friday afternoon wrapped up with a technology presentation all about – yep, you guessed it – FALL! However, to really understand the Fall, it is important to consider what happens in each of the seasons! Watch below to play the game “Guess The Seasons!” like the students did! They got an A+, how about you?
Wow! What an amazing week! Although “Fall/Autumn Week” has come and gone, the students have a while left to enjoy all of the fun and wonder that the Fall brings! As always, thank you for reading and have a wonderful and safe weekend!
