Hello all,
“Letter D is for Dinosaur Week” was by far the most Delightful week of the 2019-2020 school year yet! The students entered school each day with Dozens of Letter D shares! Everything from Dinosaurs, Dora/Diegos, Dolphins, and Dogs were sent in and shared! There were tons of Letter D books that came in as well! Speaking of books, some students even invited their Daddies in to read the morning story to the class this past week! To help explore the letter D, the students also learned all about dinosaurs! Well, “Letter D is for Dinosaur Week” has come and gone. Read on below to discover the learning that took place and fun that was had throughout the week!
The students spent both Monday and Tuesday morning working one on one with the teachers to complete their Letter D identification/fine motor activity sheets. The teachers were so impressed with how easily the new students recognized the letter D and also how well the older students remembered all things “D” during their morning work! In the afternoon on Monday and Tuesday, the students created the third letter list of the year! Naturally, the letter D list was full of Dazzling answers! As a whole group, the students took turns brainstorming and contributing words that begin with the letter D and also hunted around the classroom for letter D items!
How many D shares do you see?
Answer: Dinosaur, Dog, Dolphin, Doughnut, and D!
On Wednesday, the students created their very own Dinosaur (T-Rex) art project! Take a look see how the dinosaurs were assembled!
On Thursday, the students were visited by Miss Lesley and Ms. Jenny from True Dental Care, located in Jersey City. Ms. Lesley and Ms. Jenny thought they would come in to discuss the importance of taking good care of the teeth in our mouth! The students warmly welcomed Ms. Lesley and Ms. Jenny to PPA and the learning and fun quickly began! First, Ms. Lesley read a great story called Sugar Bugs which explained the importance of brushing your teeth twice a day, for two minutes at a time! She also explained that it is important for everyone with teeth in their mouth to visit the dentist two times a year. Ms. Lesley explained that TWO is the magic number when it comes to taking good care of our teeth/mouth. The students had a blast learning all about oral health care. A special PPA Thank You to Ms. Lesley, Ms. Jenny and Donnie the Dragon for visiting!

During the afternoons, Miss Anna and Miss Vanessa led music and Spanish class! During Spanish, the students completed the final week of study of Los Numeros (Numbers) and Greetings! In music class, the students learned various dino-inspired songs, including this one!
On Friday, the students began the day with a technology presenation all about – you guessed it – DINOSAURS! The day began with the teachers asking the question, “WHERE ARE ALL THE DINOSAURS?” Through their investigation, the students learned that the dinosaurs are in fact, extinct, or gone forever. The teachers then asked the question, “Well, if dinosaurs are extinct, how do we know what we know about them?!?!”
Upon further investigation, the students learned about the wild world of Paleontology! Here is one song they particularly LOVED singing!
After learning about paleontology, the students tried their hands at investigating fossils themselves in the school sand table! What fun it was to Dig for Dinosaur Bones!
Throughout the week, the students were treated to not one, not two but THREE guest readers! These Delightful Guest ReaDers featureD below Dazzled the stuDents by Dictating several aDorable tales! A special PPA Thank You to these guests for joining us! If you would like to be a Guest ReaDer one Day, please Don’t hesitate to ask!
Well, that is all for “Letter D is for Dinosaurs Week” at PPA! As always, thank you for reading! Have a fun and safe weekend! See you next week!
