Hello all,
“WaCkY sCiEnCe Week” has come and gone and boy, was it great! Read on below to learn all about the fun that was had and learning that took place!
On Monday and Tuesday morning, the students headed out to the Sprinkler/Water Park and Playground for some fun in the sun!
For their morning art project on Monday, the students created beautiful beaded necklaces!
For art on Tuesday, the students created a beautiful wind chime with ribbons and bells to hang outside!
The real excitement began on Wednesday as it was the first of two WaCkY sCiEnCe days at camp! The students spent the day mixing and measuring various ingredients to create Magic Cloud Dough! Once the Magic Cloud Dough had been made, the students took some time to squish it, squeeze it, pull it, and more! After a few minutes of play, the teachers asked the students if they wanted to begin the WaCkY sCiEnCe fun! Of course, the students were very eager to get started! The teachers explained that they had a special ingredient which the students could add to the Magic Cloud Dough to cause a “REACTION”. The teachers explained that in scientific experimenting, a reaction is something that happens as a result – in this case, a result of something being added to the Magic Cloud Dough. Scientists who are conducting experiments observe reactions to figure out how things work! After hypothesizing (or guessing) what reaction might happen when the magic ingredient was added, the students could hardly wait to see the experiment unfold! What a fun and messy day it was!
The WaCkY ScIeNcE fun continued on Thursday as the students conducted another experiment with colors this time! Through their discussion, the students learned all about Primary Colors – Red, Blue, and Yellow. Through their exploration, they learned just what happens when you mix those primary colors together! What a fun and exciting day of experimenting it was.
On Friday, the students hoped aboard the PPA school bus and headed to the Liberty Science Center! The students could hardly believe their eyes as they explored and investigated the various exhibits of the center including, but not limited to: Ninja-Turtles, Eat or Be Eaten, Infection Connection, Wildlife Challenge, or Our Hudson Home! Whether they were crawling on spider webs, mastering ninja moves, or just plain having fun, it was clear that the students LOVED their time at the LSC!
